How to Tell If Your Moving Company is Efficient

by | Sep 3, 2023

To take the pressure and stress out of moving, you can choose to hire a professional moving company to do all the heavy lifting for you. This is especially recommended if you don’t have anyone else to help you, if you have a lot of things to move and if you’re moving far from where you originally live. This facilitates a smoother transition, where you’re assured that your belongings will packed, transported and unloaded professionally.

Is Your Local Moving Company Going to Be Efficient?

However, not all moving companies are created equal. Some are more experienced, dedicated and cost-effective than others. The key is to find the right one. Here are some tell-tale signs to assess whether a particular local moving company is efficient or not.

Good Reviews

Before hiring a moving company, you have to do a bit of research. You will be entrusting them with all of your belongings, so you have to know if they have the experience to back up their claims of doing the job for you. The best way to do that is through the people they’ve worked with before.

You can check out reviews on their sites, ask their office if you could talk to any of their previous clients and see if anyone else in town has used their services. If they come highly recommended — especially by people you know, then you’re probably in good hands.

Tools and Processes

A good moving company invests in tools and people who can implement a move well. They should have their own range of vehicles — from small vans to bigger trucks — that haul your things from point A to B. You can assess how committed to are in servicing you by how well they maintain their vehicles.

They should also have processes in place on what they will do if there are a flight of stairs, how they’re going to move a piano and how they will fit bulky furniture through small doors and hallways.

There are moving companies who subcontract the job instead of using their own people. Be wary of these teams because they often work based off of commission. They seldom care about good customer service or protecting the brand they’re subcontracting for, so you can end up with a slow move or a badly implemented one.

A professional moving team will give you a free quote based on the information you give. If they charge you a flat rate or don’t ask you important questions — such as what floor you’re in, how much stuff you have and the like, don’t hire them. They will most likely have many extra charges on the day, blaming you for not mentioning these things. Also, you don’t need to give your movers a deposit. If they ask, they’re not professionals.

Adan and Fil were efficient and handled items with care. I would use them again.
These guys were great. Very polite and professional. Hard workers and the move went well with no damages! And Gary is very patient with me as I had difficulties trying to get him paid through Zelle and had to get a business check but he was very patient and we got it all figured out. I would recommend this company for local moves.
Highly recommend this company. From estimate to final move, we received the best service from the office staff who explained and answered all our questions and the 2 young men who moved us taking all precautions with our items. Thank you for your transparency and professionalism.
