Great Tips for Packing Clothes For a Move

by | Sep 3, 2023

Are you looking for tips for packing clothes for a move? One of the tasks that make moving to a new home so stressful is all the packing (and unpacking) involved. As far as your clothes are concerned, you at least don’t need to be worried about breaking them while moving. That’s good news!

However, you don’t want to spend your first days in the new home washing and ironing your whole wardrobe because it got wrinkled or dirty. So packing those the right way makes a lot of sense as well.

So today we would like to offer you a bit of packing advice for your wardrobe:

Our best tips for packing clothes for a move

Organize the content of your closet

As we have already mentioned repeatedly: It can be a huge help to organize and declutter your belongings before moving! Once you know what to keep and what to get rid of (sell/donate/throw away, etc.), you can also separate your winter clothes from your summer clothes, in case you want to store the part of your wardrobe you are not going to need yet.

Moving boxes for clothes

One of the probably easiest ways: You can get special moving boxes for clothes that work like little portable wardrobes. That way, your clothes can remain on their hangers, and you can transport them in a hanging position as well. Keep in mind, though, that this solution might take up quite some space inside of the moving van.

Big plastic bags

A cheaper solution that does not take up much space comes in the form of big plastic bags, e.g., big trash bags:

(Safety tip: Keep pets and small children away from the bags to avoid suffocation risks!)

  • Version 1: Leave your clothes on their hangers and “bundle” several of them. Cut a hole in the bottom of the bag so you can stick the hanger hooks through them and push the bag down to cover your bundle of clothes. This way, the plastic works like a garment bag.
  • Version 2: If you have items like sweaters and other clothes that are not delicate and don’t wrinkle, you can simply carry them in trash bags as well.

Adan and Fil were efficient and handled items with care. I would use them again.
These guys were great. Very polite and professional. Hard workers and the move went well with no damages! And Gary is very patient with me as I had difficulties trying to get him paid through Zelle and had to get a business check but he was very patient and we got it all figured out. I would recommend this company for local moves.
Highly recommend this company. From estimate to final move, we received the best service from the office staff who explained and answered all our questions and the 2 young men who moved us taking all precautions with our items. Thank you for your transparency and professionalism.
