A move to a new home gives you a lot to think about, even more so when it is a long distance move. When you are planning and preparing your move, the question of road trip safety might not be the first thing that comes to mind.- and yet it is of major importance!
We at Brothers EZ Moving are experts when it comes to moving your furniture and other belongings from one place to the other. However, there are some special “items” that are extremely valuable. These need to be moved without our direct involvement. Yes, we are talking about YOU, as well as the other members of your household.
That is why today, we would like to address the issue of
Road trip safety for your long-distance move
For starters: Is your car in good shape?
One of the main factors for a safe road trip is the condition of your vehicle. Therefore, it’s a good idea to have it properly serviced prior to your move to make sure your car is “fit” for the trip: Make an appointment for a proper inspection by a professional car mechanic to make sure that
- the motor runs smoothly
- the brakes are fine
- the motor oil is fresh and clean
- the tires are in good shape, etc.
Even if your last car inspection has been very recent, there are some last-minute checks you should perform before getting on the road:
- tire pressure (check the spare tire as well!)
- level of oil, water, windshield wiper fluid
- completeness of the first aid and emergency kit in case of an accident or breakdown
